Adding the CC licence to your blog

What is Creative Commons

In short, Creative Commons helps you share your knowledge and creativity with the world.

How to add CC license to your blog

Most of the blog templates have the possibility to add HTML content. You can get your preferred license code from http://creativecommons.org/choose/ and then you can add it to your blog, as I have done.

If you want to see more detailed info about how to add the CC HTML to your blogger pages, Chris Lasher has written a helpful post on how to add a CC Licence button to your Blogspot (Blogger) blog.

The benefits of offering and using creative commons licenses are many. There is no registration to use the Creative Commons licenses. Licensing a work is as simple as selecting which of the six licenses best meets your goals, and then marking your work in some way so that others know that you have chosen to release the work under the terms of that license.

For example, that image has a CC0 Public Domain. It is free for commercial use, and no attribution is required. Still, it would be good to link to that image source so that others would know that they can use it too.

Creative Commons and Open Education in NZ

There is also a growing movement for Creative Commons policies in the state education systemBy adopting a Creative Commons policy, schools can enable their teachers to use Creative Commons licenses to legally share and collaborate with other New Zealand teachers.

  1. Looks like Pixabay nowadays prefers users to download rather than link to images. But I thought I'll keep that image link there, just to showcase how handy those links can be. You can still access the image via the link I added, and I follow to rule of not editing blog posts after they have been published. :)

  2. The clipping path service-related content is really helpful. I have enjoyed it a lot and got more information about clipping path service reading the article. Thanks a lot for sharing with us.
